if he could laugh any harder - that rolling, maniacal cry of joy - he would.  his sides would split and his face would grow numb, and he wouldn’t be able to stop.  god, how he loved to rile him up.

but his throat was dry.  he’d smiled at that joke far too many times and now his teeth shined, stretched over his face as he stared back at those eyes.  

eyes of green - some might say eyes of greed, but he knew better.  green was deceit, it was lies.    and he was sick of them.  

“ quit sayin’ that stupid shit, kakuzu! ”

“ if you could kill me, you would’ve done it by now. “

his heart soared.

dull pain, the kind that he knew as a friend, began to puff and throb in his teeth - a ringing of ears in his mouth.  his gums were aaaccchhhiiinnnggg, stinging. his tongue leaked something beautiful; a colour of wine that he drank up quickly.  but he is greedy, my friend, and in that pain, he had not had enough.

“ what the fuck was that?  a cripple could hit harder than you. “

and oh god, how his heart soared.
